Our Verdict

The definitive browser reflex game. Brutally simple to understand and brutally hard to master — it takes less than a minute to learn and months to genuinely get good at.

What We Like

  • Procedural generation ensures no run is a memorization exercise
  • Speed acceleration creates genuine tension that compounds the longer you survive
  • Zero loading time, no account, instant replay — frictionless to pick up and put down
  • Meaningful skill ceiling: surviving two minutes is a real achievement

Watch Out For

  • No progression system, unlocks, or score persistence between sessions
  • Not playable on mobile — requires keyboard for precise steering

How to Play Slope

  1. 11. The ball rolls forward automatically from the moment the run starts — you cannot stop or slow down.
  2. 22. Press A or Left arrow to steer the ball left; D or Right arrow to steer right.
  3. 33. Avoid the red walls on the sides of the track — hitting either ends the run instantly.
  4. 44. Watch for gaps and drops in the track surface; falling through also ends the run.
  5. 55. Steer conservatively early while speed is manageable; micro-adjustments become critical at higher speeds.
  6. 66. Your survival time and distance are shown after each run — there is no in-game pause.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Slope get faster over time?

Yes. The ball accelerates continuously throughout the run with no cap. At high speeds the track scrolls fast enough that obstacles give less than half a second of reaction time.

What is the world record for Slope?

Community-tracked records exceed several minutes of survival, though the game has no official leaderboard. Runs beyond two minutes are considered expert-level by most players.

Is Slope the same as Slope 2 or Slope Ball?

No. Slope (by Rob Kay) is the original. Slope 2 and Slope Ball are unaffiliated clones with similar mechanics. The original runs at slope-game.github.io and is the version most commonly cited.
