INTRODUCTION

TERMS USED

Inventory – The side bar containing items you pick up.

Examine – All items in the side bar can be examined by clicking “about item” at the bottom right corner.

Escape – To escape from any screen displaying a specific item you examined click “try to escape” at the bottom right corner below “about item”.

Use – Using an item requires you to click the desired item in the inventory and then clicking the item you wish to use it with.

In order of the items obtained chronologically through this walkthrough, - you being with the CD case in possession.

STEPS

1. Click on the bright spot in the middle of the screen. The room is revealed.

2. Click on the red shelf. Click on the green shoes, grab the white card underneath it.

3. Click on the green shoes to put them back down and click directly under the shelf. Grab the photo frame that slides out.

4. Click the dark green mats on the left side of the screen. Click the twice and grab the white card at the bottom.

5. Click the grey book shelf and click the top shelf. Click on the left side of the empty shelf screen and grab the white card.

6. Click twice on the right side of the empty shelf and grab the bundle of incense sticks.

7. Examine the incense sticks and escape. Doing so, returns you to the grey book shelf screen. Click on the doors at the bottom of the grey book shelf and grab the 2 photos inside the yellow book.

8. Close the yellow book and click on the red mat below the screen. Click on it again to reveal a skeleton. Click on the skeleton followed by its hips to reveal the lower half of the skeleton. Grab the medicine bottle in its right hand.

9. Examine the medicine bottle. A paper with chinese characters are written, please note the position of each specific character, you will need to recall this information later. I will refer to it as the chinese paper for convenience. Escape it.

10. Click on the skeleton’s left hand 3 times and grab the gold key.

11. In the same screen, grab the red mat. Examine the item and repeatedly click on it till the red mat tears and reveals a green cross with patterns on it.

12. In the same screen, click on the blue door. Click it again and the room should be dominated by the green wall on the left.

13. Click on the grey lamp at the top right corner. If done correctly, this should reveal an angle in the grey lamp screen where there is a camouflaged red card and a white card. Grab the white card.

14. The camouflaged red card is lying above the grey lamp. Look hard and you’ll spot it. Grab the red card. It should turn up in your side bar as a white card.

15. Click on the green wall to the left to return to the previous screen. Click on the green wall to the left again to reveal a fridge at the bottom left corner. Click on the fridge until you open it. Clicking the inside will grant reveals a plate with rotten meat inside and beer. Leave the beer and click on the rotten meat and grab the white card underneath.

16. Click on the fridge to close it and click on the rubbish bin behind it and grab the hair on a piece of paper.

17. Examine the hair once and escape. Click on the fridge till the bin is visible again. If the hair was examined, click the rubbish bin again and grab the lighter under the rubbish bin.

18. Click on the bin to put it down and continue clicking on the green wall on the right side of the screen till you return to the grey book shelf scene.

19. Use the gold key on the red diary in the middle shelf.

20. Scroll through the pages of the diary till you come across a page saying “This is the worst day of my life.” Note the date at the top of the page e.g. April 18, 2011 (Mon). This date is different for every individual. After doing so, scroll through roughly 23 empty pages to reach the end of the diary. Grab the CD at the end.

21. Examine the hair and use the lighter on it. Click on the paper repeatedly till a shape similar to the chinese paper is formed. We’ll call it the patterned paper.

22. This part is tricky. The characters on the chinese paper match the square patterns of the paper discovered by the lighter. E.g. the Chinese character at the top right hand square of the chinese paper has the same value as the 1 in the top right hand square of the patterned paper. This Chinese character must be placed on the 1 square in the green cross with patterns. This method follows for all the Chinese characters that are placed on a square with a number from 1-6 on it.

23. If done correctly, the green cross with patterns will fold up into a box. You will obtain a box to put people’s soul in.

24. Approach the skeleton once more and click on the chains attached at the legs. You will be prompted to key in a code. Remember the date you noted down in the red diary? This is how you key in the code, e.g. April 18 becomes 0418, the month occupies the first 2 digits with a 0 in front if the value is less than 10, while the last 2 digits of the code is the day in the month and applies the same rule as the month.

25. Return to the grey book shelf and click on the lowest shelf. Use the beer on the shelf. Examine the CD case and use the CD on it to combine it.

26. Use the combined CD and CD case on the shelf.

27. Use the bundle of incense on the shelf.

28. Return to the fridge and click on the beer. Examine it and it should be “so chilly”.

29. Use the lighteron the bundle of incense. If done correctly, a piece of incense should be burning in the yellow pot. Click on the red stick to hit the bell. If one more thing needs to be added (put the beer back into the fridge so that it is cold again and put it back on the shelf) and you win the game.


Personal Thoughts

The Viridian Room is a follow up of the classic Crimson Room made by FASCO. Fans of the Crimson Room will be pleased with the added complexity this game has to offer. The creepiness of the Crimson Room has returned with more items and puzzles to make you flex your brain muscles.
