Not just three years ago, Rare's Goldeneye set the bar for console multiplayer games. It was chock full of options with plenty of playable characters, unique modes, categorized weapon sets, and four-player support. College campuses nearly shut down due to addiction to multiplayer Goldeneye. As the years passed, the addiction barely faded because the formula was so good. Many wondered if it could get any better on home consoles. In May of this year Rare, again, upped the ante on multiplayer with Perfect Dark which was stocked with so many options fans couldn't help but be intimidated by the sheer span of choices. However, despite the fact that it ran on the acclaimed Goldeneye engine offering a very polished multiplayer mode, many couldn't help but be disappointed. After all, you could no longer play as Bond and all the licensed characters. A moot point, but thankfully EA and Eurocom have followed in Rare's footsteps adding in a four-player multiplayer option in the new Bond title, The World Is Not Enough(a.k.a. TWINE). Can a game running on a completely new engine featuring the same tried and true license as Goldeneye hold its own? Find out in this in-depth feature.
