HAUNTED THE TRAPPED SOUL - WALKTHROUGH

INTRODUCTION


TERMS USED

Inventory – The sidebar at the bottom of the screen containing the items obtained.

Combine – The bottom right button that looks like 3 folds of paper against each other. Click the button, drag the desired items inside and press combine.

Dragging – Certain objects in the game can be dragged. Simply, use the crowbar on the item and hold on to the left mouse button and drag the object left or right.

Grab – Grab an item by clicking on it, if it’s obtainable it will appear on in your inventory.

Use – Using an item requires you to click the desired item in the inventory and then clicking on the object you wish to use it with. The item will disappear after the correct usage.

In order of the items obtained chronologically through this walkthrough.

STEPS


1. You are facing the haunted house, go forward and enter the door. Inside the dark room, grab the electric cable at the bottom right corner of the screen.

2. Approach the switches on the right and use the electric cable on the plug next to the light switch.

3. Exit the house to face the door. Turn left while directly facing the door and you will see the power generator. Clicking the left side of the generator will show a pattern of
bolts. Go right and click on the red button. Turn the generator on by pressing the black rectangular buttons to make this sequence; Black, Red, Black, Black, Red and Black. The power should turn on. Use the electric cable on the red plug below.

4. Enter the house and turn on the lights, you will now be locked in.

5. Turn right once to face the TV and the clock. Grab the flashlight near the bottom right corner of the screen.

6. Turn right twice to face the desk and the bookshelf. Grab the crowbar in the bookshelf. Grab the Christmas note in between the books and note the birthday 25 Dec.

7. Drag the chair towards the bookshelf and you will be able to look above the bookshelf. Grab the plate.

8. Exit the screen and face the desk. Click on the desk to obtain the handkerchief and diary entry. Click on the picture to see a picture of a boy and his mother, note the birthday 4 Sep.

9. Exit the desk and click the right side of the bookshelf just above the 2 cardboard boxes. You should be facing a small space with dust. Grab the battery and use the handkerchief on the dust on the wall. Drag the handkerchief around until the wall is clean. A bunch of letters should appear on the wall saying the alphabets A to Z and 381976. Note that the missing numbers are 2, 4 and 5.

10. Exit the screen and use the crowbar on the lowest left cabinet to hear a sound, drag the table to the left to reveal a special lock beneath the table. On the lock, press II, IV and V (2,4 and 5). The lock should open and you can grab the old key and diary entry. Note the birthday on the diary entry 6 Mar.

Exit the lock and face the desk. Go right twice and use the old key on the door to open it.

12. Facing the bed and bookshelf, click on the mirrored medicine cabinet and open it to grab the battery and diary entry.

13. Exit the screen and face the bed and bookshelf again. Grab the diary entry hidden underneath the blanket on the bed.

14. Go right once and click on the bed frame near the window to obtain the tape recorder. On top of the wooden drawer next to a pile of books is another diary entry, grab the diary entry.

15. Just above the drawer and books is a calendar. Click on it and note the ringed numbers 11, 5, 27, 14, 1, 16 and 10.

16. Exit the calendar to face the window and drawer. Click on the piano, click on its top left battery panel and use the batteries on the panel. Press the red button to turn the piano on. Play the keys from the clue in the calendar (11, 5, 27, 14, 1, 16 and 10) in this order, e.g. count 11 keys (white and black) from the left side to arrive on D# key the black key and then repeat from the left again counting 5 to arrive at A key. If done correctly, the middle panel will open up, grab the old key.

17. Exit the piano and turn right once. Enter the bathroom with the door on the right. Once inside the bathroom click on the toilet. Click on the rubbish bin and obtain the zodiac note inside. Click on the toilet’s water tank above, open it and click repeatedly to obtain the old key.

18. Exit the toilet and click on the sink to grab the oil and screwdriver.

19. Exit the sink and click on the bathtub. Use the screwdriver on the 4 screws near the edge of the bathtub to obtain a diary entry.

20. Exit the sink and the bathroom. In the bedroom facing the 2 doors go right and face the large wooden cabinet. Click the cabinet, open it and grab the diary note located on the second shelf near the middle partition. Click on the black box below, seems you need to key in a code.

21. Key in the word “PADLOCK” by doing the following. Note that a-d goes down in a vertical line ending at “21”. “21” is the equivalent to the alphabet e. So following this vertical order, 2 is equal to f and the buttons that follow are g-j. Basically press the letters a, c, d, k, l, o, p. Once the padlock is open, grab the plate and diary entry.

22. Exit the black box and face the cabinet. Combine the 2 plates and use it on the combined plate on the stool.

23. Turn left once to face the 2 doors and exit the bedroom with the door on the left. You will face the TV and clock. Click on the clock and use the oil on it to lubricate it. Turn the minute hand to 1, the hour hand to 7 and the second hand to 2. Grab the old key and note.

24. Re-enter the bedroom and turn left. Click on the combined plate on the stool and turn the plate to the following zodiacs; Capricorn, Virgo and Pisces (this information is stated in the notes, the father’s birthday is found in the Christmas card – 25 Dec Capricorn, the mother’s birthday in the picture on the desk – 4 Sep Virgo and Miki’s in the diary entries – 6 Mar Pisces.) The symbols can be found in the zodiac note. Or by following the screenshots below.







25. If done correctly, the combined plate will start glowing.



Face the 2 doors and click on the switch to turn off the lights. Face the cabinet and click on the combined stool to observe the text “DON’T LEAVE ME ALONE!” (please see the screenshot). Use the flashlight on the combined plate to view a map of the house. There is a hidden room behind the cabinet.

26. Return to the switch and turn on the lights. Use the crowbar on the shadow at the bottom of the cabinet and drag it to the right. Grab the diary entry on the floor.

27. Enter the dark hallway to face a door with 3 locks. Grab the rib by clicking on the lower chest area of the skeleton. Grab the diary entry in the skeleton’s shirt pocket. Click on the skull to drop it.

28. Use the tape recorder on the plug behind the skeleton. (CAUTION! The next area must be done with exactly to my instructions or you will die!) Firstly, use the old keys on the 3 locks but do not open the door yet. Attempting to do so will prompt you with a message that the character has a bad feeling about it.

29. Click on the plugged in tape recorder and press the black button. This will play “Bah Bah Black Sheep” sang by the father, to calm the ghost.

30. Enter the room after you have played the song, the boy should be sleeping. Grab the shoelace and chopper and combine the shoelace, chopper and rib to obtain the hatchet. Use the hatchet on the sleeping boy.

You win the game.

Personal Thoughts

Haunted – The Trapped Soul follows the story of a man who gets into an accident only to find his car and himself undamaged. Left outside a house in the middle of the woods, the main character must solve the mystery of the house to escape. The game has quite a creepy atmosphere mostly because of the creepy piano background music which cannot be muted. Due to the dark lighting and random blackouts the game can get very creepy as you wonder what will happen to you in the darkness. Item interaction gets rather annoying because you have to really click on special areas pixel by pixel. Overall, a good creepy room escape with good graphics and audio.
