Default What are bots?

Since members in this forum, including GameChat/MOYA, don't know what bots are, I'll explain.

A bot is a program that behaves and interacts with other programs as if it were a user.

What should you do when you see a thread created by a bot? Post in it? NO! NEVER post in a thread of which a bot created. That will be considered postwhoring and is a ban able offense. Instead, click on the report () button and the thread should be deleted almost immediately.

Some examples:
http://www.onlinegames.net/forum/sho...80&postcount=1

http://www.onlinegames.net/forum/sho...34&postcount=1

Some bots will also include a website address to their site.

You mispelled a word. I still don't get these bots. Are they tests to see if someone is doing the right thing or is it for bans?

Bots are used to advertise on numerous forum sites.

Are they similar to those bots in IRC?

I think they'd rather get their message out in the forums than in a chat room.

As far that I know, the IRC bots kick me out from the chatroom everytime I say the bad words

I miss heard what you said about IRC bots. Those kind of bots can be designed for a chat room that can kick those who use profanity, spam the chat, or just do really stupid stuff.

The weirdest thing happened to me. I got a PM from a user with no name at all. His join date is January 1970. WTF.
