I am currently working on an RPG that I will probably make "simulated online mulitplayer" AI for. You can find more info about it on my website
here. You can also visit the forum I made for it
here.
This game uses an attack bar battle system. The faster your class, the faster it charges. Also, different weapons may actually boost the speed of the attack bar's charge. There will be a WHOLE BUNCH of weapon classes. I guess you could compare this to runescape. You'll be able to make arrows, grow food, make all kinds of different potions and food, etc. The huge difference is that you'll use mana(not runes) for magic, however there will probably be potions (that take a while to take effect) that you can drink to boost your mana, and I may also make things kinda like runes that will charge your mana instantly. You'll be able to enchant weapons, make weapons and armor, fish, farm, all kinds of stuff!
There are five main stats
Strength: Increases damage dealt in melee combat.
Dexterity: Allows you to use better ranged weapons, each class will have a dexterity rank, determining how fast your attack bar charges and how likely you'll be to dodge an attack.
Skill: Prevents damage from physical attacks by blocking and allows you to use special skills in combat.
Toughness: Raises your max hp and hp regeneration.
Intelligence: Raises your max mana and mana regeneration, allows you to do more spells, makes your spells more powerful, and increases your resistance to magical attacks.
Here are some classes:
Ranger: Fast and skilled, both in melee combat and with ranged weapons, but weak and only able to use magic for enchanting weapons for a short time(especially ranged weapons). Weak against the warrior class, strong against the wizard class. Able to dual-wield.
Warrior: Strong, tough, and skilled in melee combat, however very unskilled with ranged weapons and completely unable to use magic(which also means no magic resistance). Strong against rangers, weak against wizards. Slow weapon classes don't slow him down, like they slow down other classes.
Scout: An average guy with no weaknesses, but also no strengths.
Wizard: Doesn't use an attack bar, slow, very unskilled in ranged combat, weak, and not very tough, however very strong with magic. Instead of using an attack bar, he has spells that all need a specific amount of time to charge. The longer the spell charges, the more mana efficient it is! This makes him weak against rangers(fast, so he doesn't have much time to charge spells) and strong against warriors(slow, so he has plenty of time to charge a powerful attack, also they have no magic resistance).
